Hold onto your seats, Spidey fans, as some interesting new set photos and videos from the upcoming sequel, Spider-Man: Far From Home, have emerged on the “web” (heh heh). Twitter user @CZMARTY7 has uploaded three photos (1, 2, 3) and two videos (1, 2) from the location in Liberec, Czech Republic, where the movie is being filmed, and they give us our first glimpse of the film’s antagonist, played by Jake Gyllenhaal. While we haven’t got an official confirmation that Jake Gyllenhaal is indeed playing the villainous Mysterio, these peeks from the set seemingly confirm the rumors to be true. The videos and photos take place in what seems to be a destroyed fair of some sort; there are a ruined carousel and a Ferris wheel surrounded by tons of rubble, fire, and damaged vehicles. At the center of all of this is Jake Gyllenhaal himself in costume. In one of the videos, Gyllenhaal is doing the classic “one-knee-and-fist-to-the-ground” superhero pose as black vehicles pull up behind him; the other is Jake simply walking and talking to a few crew members. The photos are a mix of stills from the video and shots of the same things. While nothing relating to the story is given away here, it is our first look at Mysterio. We don’t see the actor sporting the classic “fishbowl” helmet fans will recognize from the comics, but the costume is pretty faithful to the source material. It appears to light up blue and sports a long cape; it almost looks like Thor’s gear, at first glance.

Will we actually see the helmet on the big screen? That much is up in the air, but we will certainly find out when Spider-Man: Far From Home releases in theaters on July 5, 2019. Spider-Man: Homecoming’s sequel will be our first look at a post-Infinity War/Avengers 4 MCU, and it will be interesting to see what shape the franchise’s universe will be in upon the events of said films. Spider-Man: Far From Home features Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as “MJ,” Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes/Vulture, Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson, and Jacob Batalon as Ned, all reprising their roles from Homecoming. Newcomers include Numan Acar (Aladdin 2019) as Dimitri, while J.B. Smoove, Remy Hii, and Oli Hill are appearing in unknown roles. Also confirmed to appear in the film are Cobie Smulders and Samuel L. Jackson as Maria Hill and Nick Fury, respectively.
