I agree wholeheartedly that microtransactions aren’t nearly as horrible as people make them out to be. In fact, they help to make some games a bit more accessible for people who aren’t willing to put in as much time grinding for certain things that gamers like myself enjoy doing. Being able to purchase armor or other items in-game with real money so you don’t have to spend time crafting or finding hard to locate items in order to make playing more enjoyable to some has literally zero effect on how I choose to play, so there really is no reason to be upset about it. But like you said, like anything it can be abused if used incorrectly or in a manipulative way. I have never spent real money on anything “in game”, outside of the game itself and expansions/add-ons, and the option for microtransactions has never impacted me negatively that I know of, so I say more power to the companies and the people that choose to participate.
